General Business: i. Budget and Canterbury Faire Tasha produces original budget, submitted by her predecessor, Natalia, and suggests possible alternative use for marquee (Canterbury Faire) expenditure. She puts forward motion to purchase equipment from OUSA grant. Motion seconded by David, and passed unanimously. With respect to archery equipment, David intends to find out when Brendan is actually leaving. Version of budget with marquee expenditure approved unanimously (David had argued for marquee on grounds of extra space advantages). Issue regarding ground sheet. Transportation to Canterbury Faire: Bevan, according to Tasha, is prepared to drive up to Christchurch if someone else volunteers to drive back. Tasha volunteers. ii. 2007 Newcomers Tasha suggests date for next year's initial newcomers meeting: 10th March 2007, Clubs and Societies Day being 21st February 2007. Issue of Saturday meeting preference. David suggests checking with the Baron and Baroness regarding their availability for events. iii. Summer Break Tasha goes to check Clubs and Societies Building timetable. On returning she reveals that it is not really open until Orientation Week. New Otago Canton will in any case be focussed largely on garb making in preparation for Canterbury Faire. iv. 2007 Arts and Sciences Arts and Sciences Officer, Nicola, had suggested via e-mail that two different sets of art and science activities be run over multiple weeks during 2007, with perhaps a month being spent on each activity. Tasha suggests staggering the activity streams. Meeting ends: approximately 12:40 p.m. Next meeting (Tuesday 9th January 2007) to focus on coordination for Canterbury Faire.
