The SCA canton forming in Otago, New Zealand
The Barony of Southron Gaard

SCA Southron Gaard Canton of Castelburn:

AGM 12 October 2007

Seneschal's progress report and Reeve's financial update:accepted.

Membership reminders for anyone not yet a member of SCA: membership forms handed out and new Cantonese encouraged to join SCA.

Discussion of lease and future meeting space requirements: everyone is happy with the Carnegie Centre for now. We will explore other possibilities in case the numbers grow too big for the current rooms. Options include St Paul’s cathedral crypt, King Edward Tech., and the Pioneer Women’s Hall. Review this question before current lease runs out in April 2008.

Election of officers: Seneschal (Jonathan Cweorth), Chatelaine (Vivienne Hanan), Arts and Sciences Minister (Carol Wyvill), Reeve (Teressa Hansard), Herald and Utricularius (Aelred Edmunds), Marshal (Richard van Dijk), Chronicler (Alistair Mackay), and Chirurgeon (Emily Ross). Proposal for new lesser office: Jongleur (accepted: Peter Appleby elected).

Discussion of calendar and programme for 2008 plus areas of interest for canton to explore in the year ahead: new calendar attached. We may bid for baronial Anniversary to be held during the St Patrick’s weekend in march 2008. Some areas of interest to be explored: dancing, archery, rapier, sewing and garb, tablet weaving and lucetting, pewter casting, talks on period subjects, formation of recorder consort, feasting!

College attendance at dance practice and sewing days: joint Canton and College weekly evening at Clubs and Socs proposed, to alternate between dancing and archery. College to confirm next year. Welcome extended to any College gentle wishing to join in the Sunday sewing circle.
